Additional Information: About Radon Testing and Mitigation Businesses

The radon testing and mitigation businesses listed have been certified by the DEP and issued a certification number that you should ask for when acquiring a business' services.  Individuals performing radon testing and mitigation must also have a DEP certification number which will be different than the business' number.  Please contact the Radon Section to verify the certification number of the business and individual you hire.

We also recommend reading the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) publication, RADON TESTING AND MITIGATION: THE BASICS.  The information in the publication should help you decide how to test for radon and/or radon progeny and interpret the result of that test to determine whether mitigation is needed.

As of May 13, 1991 no one may test or mitigate for radon unless they are certified by the DEP.

If you have a complaint about any business or individual providing you with radon testing services, please write to the Radon Section at Mail Code 25-01 PO Box 420, Trenton, NJ 08625-0420 or call toll-free within New Jersey at (800) 648-0394 or outside New Jersey at (609) 984-5425.
